Hi... did you consult the documentation? Below is a snip:
If TSclientX doesn't start, open a terminal and run:
"sudo /usr/X11R6/bin/fc-cache"
This will rebuild X11's fontconfig cache.
If you've never used X11 before be patient;
it can take a minute or two to fire up on first-run.
Now if you've already done this and still have the same result, open an xterm and run:
/Applications/TSclientX.app/dist/bin/tsclient
If the GUI doesn't launch, there should be some kind of error output; I'd appreciate it if you could e-mail that output to me for further investigation.
FYI: Before I stamped out the 1.10 release I rebuilt a PPC and Intel Mac from the Tiger Install disc, installed X11, ran the fc-config fixup and had no problems launching... so I'm a little perplexed at why you might be seeing this.
TSclientX
X11-based Windows terminal services (RDP) client.

Re: fails to launch - DMilisic
Glad to hear you're up and running with RDP. Regarding VNC, are you by chance connecting to an ARD VNC session? Apple, for some odd reason, deviated from the VNC protocol specification and as a result RealVNC 4 will not connect to Apple Remote Desktop powered VNC Servers. I'm almost 100% sure it's Apple's fault, but in the meantime I'm working on either hacking the RealVNC source or using a different VNC Viewer. For the curious, an ARD VNC Server reports back during negotiaton:
"Server supports RFB protocol version 3.889"
According to the "Official" VNC specifiication there's no such protocol version.
RealVNC doesn't know how to properly deal with this odd version number and the connection fails.
That said, connections to any other VNC servier in the known universe should work fine.
Cheers,
D.

Re: fails to launch (VNC) - MentalColic
VNC is still a no-go. I was originally connecting to a Mac OSX server w/Remote Desktop activated, but today after reading your post, I tried connecting to a Windows 2003 server which works fine with Chicken of the VNC. TSclient v110 cannot connect to it either. The error window opens immediately with the only options being [cancel] and [gtk-connect] which when clicked, takes one back to the error window. On the Mac server, I turned off Apple Remote Desktop (Sharing preference)and launched VNC via OSXvnc v.171 application. This time the password window opened, and after entering the password, the remote system flashed onto the screen for a fraction of a second and immediately disappeared. I've checked firewall ports, display numbers, etc. on all systems.Friday, October 27 2006 @ 02:59 PM PDT
Re: fails to launch (VNC) - cliffore
Hi... could you please try this command in an xterm:/Applications/TSclientX.app/dist/bin/vncviewer
And let me know if you have success connecting to a "standard" VNC server? I'm unable to duplicate the issue on my test boxes but your error output may help troubleshoot the issue.
Thanks,
D.

Re: fails to launch - MentalColic
The font cache rebuild worked. Weird because I just had to do that last week for GIMP so I thought the cache in X11 was good... Anyway, RDP now works great, VNC does not connect. Chicken of the VNC connects fine to the same server.Reply to This
