If you need envelope, card or shipping label printing of just a few items at a time, I recommend the freeware Snail Mail. It is excellent.

Suggest Snail Mail for low volume use - pg99--2008

Snail Mail is a great program - I use it regularly for printing envelopes. But, it doesn't do labels, unfortunately. I even contacted the developer, who said he had no plans to add support for labels.

So, to the best of my knowledge, there is no decent free application for printing shipping labels, etc. (As others have mentioned, Address Book's capabilities are quite limited).
