I use this software along with the Elgato 410 TV tuner for freeview TV in the UK. It works great. I cannot comment on others' stability issues but I've left this program running for many many weeks with no problems at all. It stays running (scheduling and recording) under my account even when other members of my family use the Mini under their own accounts. The only reason I ever have to quit it is when an Apple security update requires a reboot.
Picture quality is top notch and performance on my lowly G4 is excellent. Watching and/or recording doesn't seem to be affected by running other applications (even the now bloated iTunes 7!).
I use the automatic export to iPod function. As of this version it does not support the latest 640x480 resolution iPods now can handle. If you choose to do the export manually, you can encode it to 640x480 or any other resolution and format you desire. I've asked Elgato to add a feature where the user can set ALL the values for the automatic export since there was a time I wanted to export everything at full resolution (1024x576) H264 to save on disk space. Exporting to H264 is processor intensive but it doesn't bring the system to a halt - it is still totally usable. As of version 2.3.1 the export speed seems to be significantly better than previous versions.
The TVTV integration works perfectly and I have never missed a show I wanted since I began using it. It's well worth the subscription cost. The one thing you do have to watch is TVTV will not explicitly warn you about schedule conflicts - you have to check the job list for red blocks of time (indicating overlapping programmes). Similarly, if you don't resolve those overlaps, TVTV will upload the schedule to the EyeTV - which will subsequently disable one of the scheduled overlapping programmes without warning you. Not too much of an issue in my opinion - just keep your eye on your scheduling.
I cannot comment on the Front Row integration as the G4 mini never came with Front Row.
I've used other TV solutions on Windows and Linux and as far as I am concerned none of them come close to this ease of setup, ease of use, stability and features combination. Some may have more features but are a real pain to get and keep working. The EyeTV looks and feels very mac like - it just works TM which is exactly what I want to ensure I don't miss my favourite shows.
