The "release time" for beta 12 has expired, and
File Buddy refuses to launch (even though I paid).
It does offer to download the "latest" release,
so I let it proceed... and it downloads beta 12.
Gee, thanks. ;-)

Well ... it's been a week now. - Hal Itosis
This is strange. I use File Buddy probably 3 times a day, minimum. Here we are and the entire planet has been without FB9 for a week now... and there is nary a peep here (or at MacUpdate). Maybe folks have long since moved on to some other utility (what exactly I'm not sure). There is of course this message from the beta 12 release notes (dated August 31):
This release has minimal changes in it because I‘ve been in the process of moving for the past couple of months (it‘s been more than a simple move, which is why it has taken so long). The move will be complete very shortly, at which time I will have my computer fully set up so I can invest the time needed to investigate the issues that have been reported.
But --somehow-- this is starting to feel a bit more ominous than that. I certainly hope all is well with the Harris family... and I have been happy to have had a 'File Buddy' in my Mac tool-chest, lo these many (many!) years.

Over TWO weeks now !?!?!?!? - Hal Itosis
Amazing... still nary a peep from other users, orso much as a single syllable from the developer.
Is this an unscheduled trip to the Twilight Zone?
While cruising the Skytag site, I came across this
rather ironic quote from within the beta notice:
If you currently use File Buddy 8 and decide to install File Buddy 9,
you can always revert to File Buddy 8 at a later time (though we find
that prospect hightly unlikely ;-).

I don't understand this either. However, I've found a strange work around. Open the installer DMG file and copy to your hard drive (again). Run that version instead. For me, it seems to launch as if the beta has not expire. This really is the paid shareware twilight zone.Monday, October 16 2006 @ 08:16 AM PDT
