I sent these guys a $20.00 donation a couple weeks ago and they didn't even send a thank you email or even acknowledge receipt of the donation. Just think that is plain rude. Don't waste your money sending these guys any MONEY!

Disappointing! - marcedwards_dotmac

I'm sorry we didn't send a personal thank you. Due to the amount of support emails we receive it's very difficult to respond to everything (including donations).

Please don't take it personally, we really do appreciate the money you have sent and it does encourage us to continue to develop these widgets.

Creating good widgets and applications takes a fairly large amount of our time. We offer them for free, but donations like yours do help pay for other costs involved (it's not just our time that's needed!).

I hope you continue to use and like our software.

Thanks,
Marc.

Let me see if I get this: They spend hours programming and debugging and updating a very good and useful piece of software, and you pay them a pittance for their time an effort to support their good work . . . and then you need to have your a** kissed on top of it? I suggest you get over yourself.

Thanking someone for a DONATION is common courtesy. It wasn't a required fee and expecting a thank-you in return for the generous donation is hardly unreasonable.

You can expect whatever you want, that's fair enough. You can wish for thanks, hope for thanks, even crave thanks (which you obviously do)... - But publicly demanding thanks for a voluntary donation displays a somewhat unhealthy sense of entitlement. You didn't buy thanks, you made a DONATION!

If you expect your money to "buy" a thank-you note, just go and buy a stack of thank you cards and address them to yourself. For me, I'd rather they spend their time developing good sw rather than thanking every Tom, Dick, and Harry for giving them a couple of bucks.
