I think it plays Acey-deucey very poorly.

I have never played Acey-deucey before, and know nothing about strategy except what I figured out myself during game play. I do have some experience in backgammon, which undoubtedly helps, but in general the strategic considerations are very different.

I played on the default setting, which is the highest skill level. I completed ten games. (Several games were aborted before completion, because the game is in demo mode, as I have not paid.) In the ten games I completed, my results were: Won by 15, Won by 5, Won by 15, Won by 15, Won by 4, Won by 12, Won by 11, Won by 15, Lost by 10, Won by 2. (Total score: 94-10.) When a first-timer trounces you that soundly over a series of ten games, you suck. Either that, or I got *very* lucky. That seems unlikely over the course of ten games. If it can't give me a good challenge the first time I ever play the game, it probably can't give a good challenge to much of anybody.

In fairness to the author, I imagine that programming a computer to play this game well is a staggeringly difficult challenge.

The interface is very pleasant to use. Unfortunately, if the computer opponent can't give me a good run for my money, it's unlikely to hold my interest for very long.

I completed ten more games. The results: +15, +2, +15, -15, +14, +2, +15, +4, -13, +15. I think there is now sufficient evidence to support a verdict: the computer opponent sucks.
