Downloaded directly from Apple. Songs, podcasts are not playing. The play button changes to a pause button and vice versa, but there is no sound and no movement of the progress indicator. OS 10.4.7 on a dual 2.5 ghz G5.

Did you install QuickTime 7.1.3?

Also... if you have OSS 3D installed iTunes 7.0 will not playback audio.

You can delete OSS 3D by going to /Library/iTunes/Plug-ins/ and deleting the OSS plug.

Yes, I had installed QT 7.13 but also had the OSS 3D... now trashed. Works perfectly now. Would have been nice to know about this prior.

Yes, it was OSS 3D causing the problem. Running its uninstaller allowed iTunes to function. Thanks.
