Someone needs to post a working serial number for this. Apparently the developer is posting new versions without any way of actually using it. This is the craziest thing I have ever seen. If you don’t want to sell it, stop asking for a serial number.

"There is a lesson for all of us in this... if the software is useful, and Thoth certainly falls into that camp, then pay the shareware author."Utter nonsens!
BC refuses to sell a license so he himself is responsible for piracy! Besides that, every product is pirated and no other developer sees that as a reason to just quit!

How is he responsible. This has been around for a long time and if you didn't buy a license or stole it yourself, you are out of luck. What was it? $25.00. That is a steal for such a powerful program. I, along with many other legal users have made the decision not to share the serial number. That is why you are upset. You could have purchased a license and supported Brian years ago. That was your decision, not his. I'm sure this version will show up somewhere with a pirated serial number but I hope it doesn't.Saturday, September 02 2006 @ 12:51 PM PDT

There is no piracy if he no longer sells the product. The law requires damages. If he does not sell it, he makes no profit. If he makes no profit, there are no damages. The software has become freeware.Sunday, September 03 2006 @ 08:41 AM PDT

So by your logic if someone closed their Ferrari dealership and placed all of the cars in storage, you wouldn't be stealing anything if you broke in and drove off with one because you can't steal a car he doesn't want to sell.A program he created is his to do with what he wants.
Even freeware authors own their own programs and can limit or prohibit their distribution.

As a person who actually bought a license and received a serial number, I am very happy to see that Brian is still providing updates and support for this product. The unfortunate truth is that the piracy to paid ratio was too high. Brian's decision to stop selling new licenses may not make much sense, but I can understand his frustration at seeing his software not only being used on the newsgroups, but also being a highly requested item that was freely traded there as well. There is a lesson for all of us in this... if the software is useful, and Thoth certainly falls into that camp, then pay the shareware author.
