Don't most printers have these features in the driver's print options?

Good question -- 2-up is an option built in to the printer drivers, but "imposition" is something different.

If you want to make a stapled magazine, regular 2-up gets the page order wrong. 2-up puts page 1 on the left hand side, but if you staple and fold, the left-hand side is the back cover of the magazine. "Imposition" is the process of reordering the pages so that they come out in the right order for books, magazines and pamphlets. Hence this program.
