Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: NO

Back in May I moved up to a MacBook Pro (15", 2.16GB), and installed my typical regiment of software, including Microsoft Office. I also grabbed a demo of Nisus Writer Express, which was available as a Universal Binary. I have to admit that I really didn't like Nisus for a few weeks, since I've used Word for many, many years. But then Nisus clicked with me, and I purchased it.

I've gradually moved all my work over to Nisus, but kept Office on my machine. But this latest security patch is not going to get installed on my MBP. Office 2004 has been on the market for quite a while, and Microsoft is STILL releasing security updates. Anyone who believes that THIS one is the LAST one that will be needed has a wonderful disregard for history, and probably ignores helmet laws.

So good night, and good luck, Microsoft Office. There's the door; don't let the doorknob hitcha where the good Lord splitcha.

How dare MS fix their product - anothersphere

How dare MS fix their product to eliminate some or all known flaws. Its just darn rude. Yeah I say dont patch just to spite MS!

Or alternatively thanks MS for the security fix, keep em coming but do try and avoid flaws in the MacIntel version which you need to ship pdq!

A moment of clarity - corepromos

So let me get this straight, you would prefer software that you never have to update? Umm, good luck with that...

Why stop there? - toxdoc

Why not uninstall OS X from your machine. After all, Apple is STILL releasing security updates...
