Brian (if that's your real name)
It's very strange to see a 1-star review from someone on Data Rescue, especially when they are claiming that Data Rescue did something that it cannot do. It's even more fishy when you say that this horrible loss of data happened to you and how mad you are, and yet you have never contacted our support team (heck, you didn't even call for a refund or anything).. Even MORE strange that you have only one single review up here, which is a bad one, for Data Rescue...
The facts remain:
1) Data Rescue cannot crash or corrupt your drive. It has NO CODE to write to the drive you are scanning and therefore what you are saying is impossible for Data Rescue to do.
2) Data Rescue is used by all kinds of users, FBI, CIA, DoD, as well as regular end users, oh and even companies who advertise themselves as Hard Drive Recovery Service Shops
3) The reality remains that Data Rescue is 100% safe to use (has to be for FBI to use, etc) as it does NOT write to the drive in question--
As everyone on VT knows, we see these kinds of post from phantom reviewers from time to time.. They get on VT, bash a pretty well known/well reviewed product, and then disappear. They claim all these horrible things that the program did, and yet they never call us to complain, ask for a refund or help.. This is almost surely a sad attempt by either a competitor or someone else with an axe to grind when it comes to us.. There is a REAL REASON why drive manufacturers, other software utility companies, thousands of customers and hundreds of reviews all say the same thing.... Data Rescue works when all other tools have failed, and it does so in a way that is 100% safe... Don't let this phantom note on VT sway you (google it and see for yourself)--

One Review Only- - BrianLove
No need to attack me for saying what happen to me and my experience with the software. I gave a review which people can take with the other reviews and decide for themselves what they should do.Monday, August 14 2006 @ 04:03 PM PDT

Brian I am not attacking you necessarily, but rather, the fact that you are on this board and your comments/review are very suspicious. You claim that Data Rescue did something that it simply can't do (and you attack us for it) and say that it's happened to others. Your review is also suspect because it's your first and only review, and add to it the fact that you still won't call into our support team (or to sales) to complain/ask for help/ask for refund, etc and I'm sure you can understand how this all looks..So we have an unknown reviewer who claims that a world-class product ruined his drive in a way that is impossible, and even with losing his data he won't call us.. I'm sure you can understand how strange that looks..
We've seen this type of orphan review a few times and it always surprises me to see folks that claim all these horrible things (anonymously), but they won't even call or email us to complain.. Seems like another agenda in all honesty.

Here are two possible reasons (beyond those you advance) why someone might write a negative review and not call you for support/refund* The product is not legitimately owned
* The user has already given up, claiming the purchase price back is not going to address the original issue - data loss.
BTW. I have used the product. The Desktop Services folks at my place of work used it to recover files for me, so it worked for me.

Data Rescue II Cheers - godsfault
To allay possible suspicions, I'm not a shill for Prosoft or any other software company for that matter. Date Rescue II is a fine piece of software. I've used it perhaps a dozen times since the first version, Data Rescue X.I've experienced no problems whatsoever. It simply did the job and was simple to operate. I don't know what else one can ask from an application, but in over twenty-five years of computing, I've learned that capable and reliable recovery software, like Data Rescue II, is something to cherish.
A one star rating for Data Rescue II just has to reflect the reviewer's ignorance and/or ulterior motive.
