downloaded it to my mum's laptop..
..firefox will not connect to the internet.
email program connects and downloads fine..
..mozilla connected and downloaded firefox fine - so internet connection is fine
no explanation of why it won't connect, no advice or help - since computer can't go online to access help/internet [using firefox]
i don't care why it doesn't work, i don't care that the solution is somewhere on the internet - i do care that it's not working and not for any good reason.
if it's changed setting and now can't access the internet, why did it do that ??
my mother is now on the internet with another browser..
..while firefox maintains that it can't connect.
sorry, this just is not good enough - and definitely not something i will recommend to anyone

You should always read the Release Notes when you install software, in which case you would have seen (as previously mentioned) this:'Some firewall software may silently block Firefox from running. Most firewalls will ask you whether to allow a program to connect to the Internet. It's important that you always grant Firefox access. If you deny access, you must go into the firewall's configuration program and re-allow access. Even when disabled, some firewalls deny access. Here is some more information on configuring your firewall.'
which includes a link to instrucions on how to do this.

It sounds to me that you seriously lack the tecnical background to troubleshoot that problem. I bet it's just something simple like having to allow Firefox access through the XP SP2 firewall.Reply to This
