First of all, RAID is not better than backup, it is something that should go hand-in-hand with a backup plan. RAID might help you get the most performance out of your drives or insure against drive failure, but won't help you recover from mistakenly deleted files, for example.
Second, Mac OS X can already do RAID 0 and 1 straight through Disk Utility for free, so I have no idea why one would want to spend good money on software that just duplicates OS functionality...
SoftRAID
RAID solution creates RAID 0 or 1 disks.

I agree that RAID is not better than backup, RAID + Backup is better than Backup alone. SoftRAID is superior to Apple's Software RAID in terms of SoftRAID has a much better interface and rebuilding a disk is much easier to perform and monitor with SoftRAID. Right on the tagline, wrong on being redundant with Apple's offering.Saturday, August 26 2006 @ 05:27 PM PDT

I had to rebuild my Raid 1 setup last night; one of the drives got out of sync somehow yesterday. As nearly as I can tell there was no hardware failure at all. There is a use for a better product than Apple RAID, perhaps. How it will work with the Leopard upgrade process will be interesting to see.Tuesday, January 30 2007 @ 04:59 AM PST

Maybe you should read the link on their home page titled very clearly "Tell me why I should buy SoftRAID when Apples RAID is free?", and then you can see if the extra functionality is something worth paying for for your particular situation.Link included below for your convenience:
