This is a really nice, elegant solution for me. I have a shortcut to my Applications folder on my dock and this performs in a similar way BUT it has the ability to filter out those apps. that, for example, I keep in my dock and therefore are effectively duplicated or those that I access so infrequently, like 'Safari Enhancer', that I don't mind accessing through finder when I do. All this keeps my list of Applications much shorter in HimmelBar resulting in less scrolling to find what I'm wanting. So... another small step up the productivity ladder.

One comment to the developer, since I'm really picky: it would be nice to see a slicker icon in the menu bar for this app., but many thanks for it - a neat addition to my Mac.
