Any reasons why I should use this? System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Schedule does just this.

Because the system pref shutdown/restart scheduler doesn't work? It certainly doesn't do a single thing on my system. I've tried it literally dozens of times and it has never once shut down or restarted my computer.
