I've encoded about 100 films with this softwares, they're all perfect on my 28" TV! All in one step.

Good job for the queue!
The only other way I know is MacTheRipper and then FfmpegX, they are good but you waste your time..

The only missing tool is converting only audio, for example for music DVD, but I use D-vision
