The following things are important to me for any outliner/arbitrary structured data manager. I present them as questions, because I don't see enough info here about it to make me want to download and try.
Import/export of files of other similar programs? (e.g. BrainForest/Yojimbo/OmniOutliner)
Import/export of microsoft word outlines?
Support for OPML?
Can I get data out in EXACTLY the same form as I put it in?
Scripting support?
Synchronisation conduits for handheld devices? (There are many outliners and knowledge managers for Palm and PocketPC)

Some questions - ChrisZ
Hi Brennan, thanks for your interest and questions.
Mindburn's outlining is intended to be as simple and quick to use as possible, hence no file saving to worry about for instance. I also wanted to allow as rich a set of text formatting as possible, so a Mindburn outline entry can in fact be thought of as an Apple TextEdit file - in fact that's pretty much what it is, notes are saved as such in your ~/Documents folder, there's even a contextual menu shortcut to open your notes in TextEdit or show them in the Finder.
You can see that the above is powerful but does presents us with a problem with regard to import/export as no formats that I am aware of can support such a rich media set. Certainly limited support is possible and I'd be only to happy to incorporate such if a good case for it can be made - so far you are the first to ask.
Maybe it's best to approach Mindburn with fewer preconceived ideas, it does address a different set of requirements to traditional outliners, give it a whirl for a while and see how it goes.
Oh, I'd better answer your question :-) Mindburn is currently in it's first release with many more features planned, currently some of the items you mention are on the "to do" list but none are implemented in this release.
All the best, Uncle Dan
