It's free and it compresses well. What's not to like about 7zX? Well...
1. There's some "check for update" spyware in the program that apparently can't be turned off.
2. It always seems to bring up some Growl-like window asking for money. Why can't it just use Growl so I can customize its alerts?
3. The program won't run and stay running; it always just does its one task and then it quits.

1. There's some "check for update" spyware in the program that apparently can't be turned off.You can't call it spyware. The only information sent to our server is the version of the 7zX application you are currently using. Moreover, since version 1.4.2r2, you can disable updates you do not want to install.
2. It always seems to bring up some Growl-like window asking for money. Why can't it just use Growl so I can customize its alerts?
The green popup isn't based on Growl, and -- most important -- is supposed to remain there. ;)
3. The program won't run and stay running; it always just does its one task and then it quits.
Again, that's how my application is supposed to work. This might change at a later date.
