Don't bother with this crap...

Feedback Type:  Review

Product Platform: MacOS,MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: NO

I gave up with the Apani VPN Client: it would only allow me to download mail via Lotus Notes. I was never sucessful in sending any mail with it. In addition if I had to renew my VPN password, their client would'n tell me and I had to use Windoze to renew the password. Not having a version for the Intel Mac for over a year now convinced me that Apani doesn't deserve me as a customer...
I have switched to Parallels and Proxy+ and that works orders of magnitude better!

Don't bother with this crap... - mschirrmeister

Hi,

I had the same problem since weeks. But today I had found a solution for the MTU issue.

I have talked with apani support and they told me that I should reduce the MTU. But the vpn client already reduce the MTU to 1300 on en0 and en1 on the first start.
I have reduced the MTU to more lower values with no luck.

Then I started a tcpdump on our noteserver and I can see the packets come with an lenght of 1436 and a fragmented packed with with a length of 84.
Both is 1520 and this is bad.

I reduced the mtu with ifconfig and sometimes it works and sometimes not.
apani support told me I should use ifconfig

After this I created a StartupItem which set the mtu on en0 and en1 to 1100.
Befor the reboot I can send emails with an mtu of 1100. After the reboot with the automatic change of the mtu to 1100 sending emails with Lotus Notes is not working again.
ifconfig show me and mtu value of 1100, but a tcpdump on the Notesserver show me packets with 1436 and the fragemented packet with 84.

I removed this StartupItem and set the MTU to 1100 in the "Ethernet" tab for en0 (wired) in System Preferences.
Now I can send emails with Lotus Notes. Its also working after some reboots and a tcpdump on the Notesserver shows packets with a length of 1100.

Unfortunately I have found no way to change the mtu for en1 (wireless) in the system preferences.
In the moment its ok for me that I use en0.

After changes the mtu in system preferences I have also fixed the problem that I can now mount and access smb/cifs and afp shares.

Hope this helps some other people.

cheers
Marco
