Today, Logitech released a new version of their software, 5.3.2.10, replacing the previous version (5.3.2.5) which they claimed worked on Intel Macs but did not. This version does not work either. The extension installed is still PowerPC.
The first time, one could think they just made a mistake when they released the update. Now they have done it again. How exactly does a programmer release a PowerPC-only update and claim it is Universal when people have told them in their forum and in reports that it is NOT Universal? This is sheer incompetence.

oops, obviously meant to say, if some Apple extensions are still PowerPC, why does the Harmony Remote extension need to be Universal? Obviously PowerPC ones work too, otherwise Apple wouldn't be using them.Wednesday, June 21 2006 @ 04:21 PM PDT

I feel that part of it is that if they say it is a Universal app, then it should be 100% Universal not 99% Universal. Also if you have an intel Apple, then Universal applications will run much quicker then PPC versions of the same application. Also some PPC apps will simply not run on Intel Apples, depeding on how they are written.Thursday, June 22 2006 @ 12:23 PM PDT

I am somewhat confused. I looked in the same directory, and I see Apple extensions that are also PowerPC. Why does the harmony one need to be PowerPC? Running Mac mini Intel Core Duo.Reply to This
