Only thing that is keeping me from buying this.... When can we expect this to happen. I understand that the twain interfaces of scanner manufacturers are still PPC only. But can the app be at least universal?

I use VueScan routinely with my MacBook Pro and am unable to detect slower performance using Rosetta compared to the use of the same FireWire scanner and my PPC PowerBook.Thursday, July 20 2006 @ 01:04 PM PDT

This shows the misconceptions that are out there about Rosetta. For applications that you currently wait no time to perform a task, you will still wait no time under Rosetta. When you're scanning a document, what is it you are waiting for? That's right, the hardware to complete it's task, the software is hardly doing anything, just waiting. Even when I open a scanned file in Photoshop, tasks like resizing & cropping still take no time. The additional processing power provided by the Core Duo CPU makes up for some of the performance you lose under Rosetta emulation.Thursday, July 20 2006 @ 01:18 PM PDT

The developer's website say, "Compatible with Mac OS X 10.2.8 and later (PowerPC and Intel)". I guess it runs in Rosetta? (If so, that is pretty impressive for a piece of software that interfaces with so many 3rd-party pieces of hardware.)Reply to This
