I followed the instructions to sign up for a free account at FWD and then activated the IAX support. I was able to receive calls from the FWD website and place calls to both the echo test and the author's IAX number. But every call I tried to make to a regular phone would cause the program to go off hook for a millisecond and then promptly hang up. Perhaps I need something other than the free FWD account in order to place calls to land-line telephones, but the documentation doesn't mention it. The sound quality on the echo test, which switches from the default GSM protocol to ULaw, was excellent using a USB Logitech headset. If I can figure out how to make calls to regular phones, this will be a great alternative to my current favorite SIP phone, Gizmo.

FWD only works between connected networks with FWD, and other users on FWD. You need an asterisk server, or a provider that uses IAX to be able to dial to POTS.Reply to This
