i just tried to download the app, and i got a file entitled:- downthemall_-0.9.9.4-fx+fl+tb.xpi

and apple doesn't recognise the .xpi extension, and so doesn't know what to do with it

nor do i

DownloadThemAll is not a stand-alone application. It is an extension for Firefox. A file that has ".xpi" at the end of it is an extension for Firefox, Thunderbird, or Mozilla.

You now just need to complete steps 3 to 5.
