There are a lot of ways to make a website. Ranging from plodding along in TextWrangler (or vi) to a full-on site management suite like GoLive or Dreamweaver. Editing HTML & CSS by hand eludes most people who want to put up a website. And the high-end products cost mucho dinero.
So, a midrange line of products emerged that brought a lot of power to people who want a website but don't have the knowledge or the dollars. To my knowledge, the first of this class was, and is, RapidWeaver by RealMac Software. While the field is starting to fill up (see iWeb, Sandvox, Goldfish, et al), RapidWeaver, in this user's opinion, remains the easiest to use, the most powerful and extensible (via third-party plugins), and most scalable.
This latest release, 3.5, brings RapidWeaver to a level of functionality and maturity that the newcomers (yes, including Apple's own entry, iWeb) just don't have.
You owe it to yourself to try this app. And when you do, you might just drop by and visit RapidWeaver's secret weapon: An active support community with direct input by the developers themselves: RapidWeaver Support Forums. No other developer of software in this range and class can claim this level of support. And when you visit, you'll no doubt stumble upon pro designers who have abandoned the high-end suites in favor of RapidWeaver. Yes, it's that good.
SImply the best...what about Freeway - ixmorrison
I kind of agree. Freeway has a loyal following but it's a real pity it's never caught fire, to the extent RapidWeaver has, through the spawning of a third-party template industry.Reply to This
