actually it's "dwarfs!" Oh yes, Google shows 500k hits for "dwarves" but it also shows three times that for the correct plural, "dwarfs."

Plural of "dwarf" is... - Exclusive Games

We believe that both forms of plural are right. And Google shows us 12M results for "dwarfs" (including Snow White and Seven Dwarfs :), but also 6M results for "dwarves" (including answers.com dictionary articles).

And what do you think about the game so far?

In English, the plural of "dwarf" is "dwarfs". The plural form "dwarves" originated with J.R.R. Tolkien (see The Lord of the Rings, Appendix F for details). It is a quite acceptable spelling in a fantasy world game. Now, by the way, what about the game?

Checking my Webster's dictionnary, they list "dwarves" as an alternative spelling for plural. It would be interesting to do some research to check if the form originated with Tolkien or if it became popular after the release his works. Any linguist here?

Sorry, still haven't got round to the game but...

Tolkien's quote about "dwarves" comes first in a prologue to 'The Hobbit', and is :- "In English the only correct plural of dwarf is dwarfs, and the adjective is dwarfish. In this story dwarves and dwarvish are used, but only when speaking of the ancient people to whom Thorin Oakenshield and his companions belonged."
I believe Tolkein had some claim to being a linguist :o)

Most dictionaries list both "dwarves" and "dwarfs" as acceptable plurals.

Did a bit of research.. indeed the plural form was "dwarf" until Tolkien came with the form "dwarves" which become an acceptable alternative, albeit with a nuanced meaning.

From Wikipedia: Dwarf is an interesting case: the common form of the plural was dwarfs — as, for example, in Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs — until J. R. R. Tolkien popularised dwarves; he intended the changed spelling to differentiate the "dwarf" race in his novels from the cuter and simpler beings common in fairy tales, but it has since spread. Multiple dwarf stars, or non-mythological short human beings, however, are dwarfs.
