They tell you to use the 5 "S"s (Shooshing, swaddling, stomach/side position, swaying, sucking). Before I found "Noise", I recorded my voice making a shooshing sound, and then played it to calm my daughter. It didn't work too well. But then I used "Noise"! It's great because you can turn it on quickly and get it loud. When holding my daughter, I turn on the pink noise, and she just stops crying and looks around, then relaxes and sometimes falls asleep. It's great.
