you might as well type into the terminal:
sudo softwareupdate -i -a
That's all it does. Hiding this small command behind a package is a bit 'overkill'... at least wrap it into an AppleScript... that would be more userfriendly.

I absolutely agree with what you've said; except that, generally speaking, the command you mentioned is only good for one mac at a time...this has a bigger target.
