Downloading from the London mirror

Feedback Type:  Usage Tip

Contributed by: patb Sunday, May 14 2006 @ 06:12 AM PDT

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

If you download from the London Mirror you get an old version. My email to Real (13 May 2006): "I think there is something wrong with your mirroring software. I note that RealPlayer 10.1 (build 412) came out today. From London it is 8.1MB (an old version). From Seattle it is 11.6MB (the correct new version." Response (13 May 2006): "I apologize that I have been unable to resolve this issue. Your case is being escalated to our Level 2 e-mail team. You will receive a response as soon as possible."

Downloading from the London mirror - TonyBurch

Same here. I tried the Hannover mirror with same effect. Eventually I went to www.real.com and followed the links to the Free Player. I ended up here <http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product=RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=021705realhome_1_2_2_1_1_3,macjack> which works

I wonder if this is because the Universal Binary doesn't seem to work with BBC content - a widespread use of RealPlayer in the UK. For me anyway, the BBC's streaming content became unusable with the new version, so I've had to roll back.

For me... v10.1 (from Seattle) works with BBC audio/video.
