1.4.0.35 worked fine just a little slow, I simply upgraded the app and now it won't start at all, I even nuked my prefs and still won't start in the term I get.

/Applications/Skype.app/Contents/MacOS/Skype
Check 2 failed. Can't run Skype

Hope this gets fixed as I nuked my 1.4.0.35 dmg.

New Skype version is broken on all Macs - artful38

I got the exact same thing...

If you try to launch it, it just bounces and quits. If you look in the Console, you see the log:

Check 2 failed. Can't run Skype

Tried on both a PPC and Intel machine, both with old Skype prefs and without.

This makes you wonder if anyone at Skype even tried running this application once before they released it to the world...

1.4.0.35 -> 1.4.0.39 on Intel - wordman51

Take heart - you're not alone.

I downloaded the new version, installed it — and it won't even start up. I haven't cleared the prefs, but based on your experience, it won't help me.

I'm running a G5 with duals 2s and OS X.4.6.
