I've obviously misunderstood something in "To install it, just double click the Sound.growlView configure the Growl view in the Growl PreferencePane just like any other view, don't use too long sounds" because when I do what I think it says (not the greatest sentence) it asks if I want to open Growl Pref Pane, I said yes, and there is absolutely nothing there to set. There is no "unPlugged" in the Application Pref panel of Growl, and the brief instructions don't say I must have unPlugged - they imply I don't need it.

No way to set it appears. - jpkang71

It works well with UnPlugged, but it can be used with any application.

First, in the Growl prefpane, go to Display Options, choose Sound, and pick a file (I used a short AIFF file, but I think as long as you click Play and you hear it, it should be fine).

Second, go to the Applications tab, pick an application in the top pane that has an event you want signalled by the chosen sound (rather than visually), and then choose the event in the bottom pane, and change the Display from Default (or whatever it was) to Sound.
