It simply does what I need it to do. It calculates the hash of text or a file immediately. Simply drop the the file on "File Digest". The hash value can be selected and copied. I only use MD5, but the other methods seem to work as well.

The only thing that could make work slightly more comfortable would be a "copy" button to copy the hash value to the clipboard.
