Well Bad luck Apple! All of our installed data base of servers have decided not to purchase ARD again unless an upgrade path is made available to them. - They have now relegated ARD to the OSX server upgrade path - Every 3-4 years if then depending on something else coming along that dose the job comparably - Not that we dont like the product quite the opposite - Our clients refuse to purchase software again and again - None of our clients will buy OSX server again until they Upgrade their hardware every 3-4 or more years - So Apple looses potential upgrade sales for 3-4 or more years until the hard ware no longer supports the software and we have to upgrade - Usually after depreciation kicks out - Apple could have tens of thousands of dollars additional cash flow each year simply by offering an upgrade for these two products alone - Instead they have to wait up-to 5 years for the cash flow - It just doesn't make financial sense - 5 years is a long time to keep your clients interest - You had better make sure nothing new comes along cause you will loose them forever - Instead you could keep them interested with an upgrade every 12-18 months and they would stay with you for ever - And improve your cash flow each year - The idiot in Marketing that came up with the current "Upgrade" strategy should be sent back to "think different" Camp.

Actually, Apple offers AMP and SMP - st3phen

for OS X and OS X Server respectively. And they would love to sell it to your customers at the time they purchase the software. It gives them upgrade protection for three years from the time of purchase.

Quite frankly, if you are a consultant, you should already know this and you are remiss if you are not directing your customers (or at least making them aware of the existence of the ability) to purchase Server AMP.
