Am I the only bad speller on Earth?

Feedback Type:  Review

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

These folks at Firefox/Camino need to pull their heads outta their anuses and incorporate Apple's FREE spelling service. For the LOVE OF GOD, what is it with you people! Are you totally insane? How the h4LL am I supposed to use a web browser for posting at discussion fora and the like without a spell checker?

Or is it maybe that Firefox developers are all 199 IQ freaks who memorized Webster's dictionary when they were still in diapers?

C'mon, it's FREE! Use it! I'll bet Apple would love to show you the docs on how to incorporate their free spelling service. If they won't, then you guys are bright: FIGURE IT OUT!!!

Am I the only bad speller on Earth? - Mackidockie

Blow, blow, thou winter wind
Thou art not so unkind,
As man's ingratitude.

–William Shakespeare
  • 1. Proof before you post.
  • 2. Use Spell Catcher; it's far more versatile than Apple spell checker.

  • 3. Exercise patience: wait for Camino's probable spell-checker integration.
  • 4. Use another browser.

Firefox and Camino are excellent browsers. Both deserve more than one star for features. Giving them lower ratings because you can't spell is unjustifiable.

Get a spell-checker extension and shut up - kronswirl

Regarding people such as you, people in the Firefox community have to keep providing links to extensions so that you quit complaining. Because there are plenty of bad spellers in the world (12-year-old AOLers, for instance), what makes your complaining so special that you should see Firefox developers as being "insane" "199 IQ freaks who memorized Webster's dictionary when they were still in diapers"? If the correctness of your spelling is such a big deal, and you don't want to use TextEdit etc. to check, then install a spell-checking extension, and shut up already. What happens to college students who submit English papers to their professors using Thunderbird and want to check their grammar? Are you going to complain that you have bad grammar and that the Thunderbird developers are "insane" "199 IQ freaks who memorized [Diana Hacker's A Writer's Reference] when they were still in diapers"? What happens if it's the year 2025, everyone is a math genius, and the Firefox developers didn't include a calculator right in the browser? Don't you think that the developers allowed room for everyone's individual needs by letting users adding extensions to their browsers? Not everyone has the same needs, and not everyone's needs remain constant over time.

The name of the spell-checking extension is SpellBound. You need to go to:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=351130

to download the extension. Read only the entire first post of the thread before downloading.
