I bought EazyDraw and although it tries hard - it is extremely buggy and non-intuitive. It is in fact so buggy, that, like the last poster, I no longer use it. I have used very many apps to try to replace ClarisDraw (big e.g. Illustrator, and small), but nothing gets close - not even Apples new Apps. (I havent tried Canvas - license too monstrous for such an experiment, but it looks very tempting, though a tad complicated). I speciifically didnt want an intel Mac, becasue it does not support Classic and ClarisDraw, and some of the other OS9 apps I need. For any developer trying to better ClarisDraw - make an OSX app that does exactly what ClarisDraw does, as fast and as intuitively as ClarisDraw does, then add your bells and whistles - not the other way around. Also remember to let the user turn yur bells and whistles off - we want to draw not sing.

I couldn't agree more. They got it right the first time. I have bought EazyDraw and MacDraft P.E. I have also tried Intaglio. I echo: nothing beats Claris Draw.Monday, September 11 2006 @ 01:08 PM PDT

Given the model exists ie ClarisDraw, how hard would it be for a programmer to recreate it?I agree with the other posters here. Apple has sacrificed simplicity and ease of use for a lot of useless window dressing and "features" that look good on paper but in reality are just plain annoying and unproductive.
These NEXT programmers seem to have a real problem with the User Interface.
Adobe is not far behind. Each new version of Illustrator grows more and more frustrating as they add tools to simplify difficult tasks but make simple tasks harder. And clutter the window with ever more @#$%! pallettes. I need a pallette search function.

Ditto. I started using MacDraw (older version of ClarisDraw) back in 1987 on a Mac SE. I have an Intel now and I can't live without MacDraw. I can run MacDraw, but I can't print it for woodworking projects because my Apple StyleWriter has something wrong with it. I wonder if Apple knows that ClarisDraw is as good and intuitive as it is? Does anyone know how to make inch dimensions like 2 1/4" instead of 2.25? MacDraw can do that.Thursday, July 05 2007 @ 12:47 PM PDT

Absolutely correct. Well said. I really miss ClarisDraw now that I have an intel. Would love to hear of an emulator that really works, so I can continue to use it.Reply to This
