i can't believe this is freeware. i have tried every kind of journal-type software incl. notebook (way too expensive), macjournal, and stickybrain (also way too expensive.) i hate all of them. this one has all the features i could want and is much easier to use & more pleasant to look at than any of the others.
i imported my notes from all the other note-taking apps and finally was able to get rid of dozens upon dozens of mysterious folders full of notes.
i can't take a star off for this because it's freeware and i really can't believe something this good can be free... but i do wish journler could import & display PDFs. that's the only thing it's lacking. i have a lot of old PDF files in a "notebook" notebook, which i can't get at because of a lost license & not wanting to pay the upgrade fee after accidentally upgrading... and i was able to import all the images etc. out of that file. the PDFs though, are stuck.
so i have to keep folders full of PDFs in my documents folder when i wish i could just import them into journler w/everything else.
i have EVERY bit of info stored in journler now though and it's MUCH easier to access than in any other app i've tried. i especially like how easy it is to write something and then email it or post it to a blog with just the click of a button. having it password-protected is an added bonus.

best journaling software ever!! - GEllenburg
Dude, notebook files are package folders.Simply select the notebook file, select Show Package Contents in the Finder, and navigate to the "attachments" sub-folder.
Everything is there.
Sheesh.
