I could not get droplet launching to work (drag a rar segment to the RAR-Loader icon in the dock). If I launch RAR-Loader and open a rar segment then I am fine. Once playing video, I can't scrub to another portion of the video. The VLC controller seems to be limited to pause toggle only. Playlist functionality is also missing. Thus, I can't load a "2-CD" video for seamless playback.
Summary: RARs are obsolete. High-speed internet means no need to split files for download. Video compression (AVI, MPEG, etc.) means no benefit from further compression. This add-on eliminates a bit of the pointless un-raring, but is still beta quality. Marginal thumbs up.
I'm running VLC 0.8.2 in OSX 10.3.9.
