Well, as a general policy I don't patch software with 3rd party but this "patch" should make Yahoo ashamed.
BTW, they will merge with MSN Messenger and I am actually happy for it as a person who hates MSN services.

I just tried to download your bugfix but unfortunately your site seems not to be up and running. I have problems with the new version of yahoo for OSX where the other chat users constantly loose my webcam after a minute or two. SO I would like to try your bugfix on the 2.5.3 version. Maybe someone can give me a link to a working download?Thanks.
