Apple should really call this “This Years Model Update”. If your iPod is over a year old it usually drops off the Apple radar for updates. It would not be bad if Apple actually fixed all the bugs in the older iPods software but they did not. I was told by Apple support that the battery indicator on my 3G iPod is useless and was told not to use it to judge when to charge it.
I also received a letter from Apple saying my 3G iPod would automatically be entitled to a rebate in the class action suit and that I did not need to file. I think Apple screwed my twice on my 3G iPod.
What is worse is that Apple actually makes Creative look pretty good as far as updates go as Creative actually provides customer service by adding new features to their older players.
We have to sue Apple to get them to fix our older players.
