Some of the prior posts mention "easy to use". Well, for the average mac user I would strongly disagree. The "install" is a folder of 22 files and folders, some of which are php and one lone readme. The readme refers the reader to http://developer.apple.com/internet/macosx/php.html . That link alone (and its contents would overwhelm an ordinary mac user. It refers to changing config files and using superuser do (SUDO) commands. The readme for the tool is also not easy unless you have a background in setting up php on your mac (you do know how to do that right?). Anyway, the installation would be relatively simple for a "knowledgable" person but it is hardly easy for an average mac user. This is not a comment on the usefullness or effectiveness of the product, only that it is NOT easy to use. I'm a developer and I'm not finding it easy.

The average Mac user would have no need for a program like this; iCal works just fine. Or they could get a .Mac accout if they wanted to publish their calendar.I, also, don't know beans about php, but I do know html and unix. So for me, putting this on my school server (a linux box) is a piece of cake. It practically runs out of the box.
I have a copy on my home Mac to play around with (customize the appearance). Running it on my Mac is far harder, because I have to make sure the webserver is running, that it accepts .php scripts, and the right version of php is installed. In the last week, MAMP was updated, and that made this process a whole lot easier. But it still is not trivial.

I'm an average Mac user with no interest in .Mac as I have a web host already. This app was easy as pie to configure, upload and use. Now I can check my iCal via web from work with no hassles.Monday, April 10 2006 @ 07:21 PM PDT
