I installed this Spotlight filter with high hopes. It certainly would be a great benefit for us to be able to search inside Quark files by content through Spotlight. It, unfortunately, exacerbates the dreaded XPress autosave bug. With this installed, XPress leaves .a$v files around that can not be emptied from the trash. In addition, files that you think you saved because you did a cmd-S are not always saved, losing hours of work sometimes.

There is not an uninstall with this, instead you have to read the documentation very carefully and find the mention of the two files that it installs and then manually delete these files. When I deleted them and logged out and in again, the problems disappeared.

To make it worse, the technician at Quark told me that I would have to buy the upgrade to XPress 7 in order to get the autosave bug fixed!

Mdimportserver crash Quark - v.aerghir

Indeed. For some, QuarkXpress 7 (possibly also Quark Xpress 6) in combination with this Spotlight filter produces an "Mdimportserver" error on every save and autosave. It may not hang, just the two Mdimportserver processes suddenly quit (several times). Work is saved but this is boring. Delete the two from /Library/Spotlight.
