I patiently waited until I had enough junk to properly train SpamSieve, followed the directions to a "T" and tried to open my next incoming mail item. Apple's Mail crashed. Not until I completely uninstalled SS and all its components, restarted the computer, and finally deleted Mail's preferences, was I able to use Mail again. I lost my accounts with the preferences and had to recreate them.
I was going to email the developer but couldn't since Mail wouldn't work. Should've used the the Web-based email I guess. It was such a time-waster I probably won't try to SS again. However, I'd be interested to know if this is a bug and if it gets fixed.

Since uninstalling SpamSieve didn't stop the crash, that indicates that SpamSieve wasn't the cause of the crash. Deleting Mail's preferences worked because that turns off the other installed plug-in(s).Monday, March 06 2006 @ 07:14 AM PST
Crashed Mail - michaeltsai
This crash was almost certainly caused by another Mail plug-in, not SpamSieve. Installing SpamSieve causes Mail to load any installed plug-ins, and you may have had one or more dormant ones that are incompatible with the latest version of Mail. Most commonly, this is:
/Library/Mail/Bundles/PGPmail.mailbundle
Removing the plug-in should stop it from crashing.
