The update to 10.4.x from 10.3 swaps your working copy of version 3 with version 4. But version 4 is a paid upgrade. So now you have lost version 3 for which you have paid for (the upgrade removes it without asking).

Why change the working program for a trial version in the first place?? And without mentioning it during installation?? The honest way is giving a warning. Is Intego running out of ways to "persuade" people to keep buying their product?

by the way:I've been their customer for quite a while - expensive, seemingly arbitrary upgrade fees are a tradition. A pity, 'cause the product works well.
