I have seen this type of program and I just don't get it. OK, it makes pretty pictures that you can connect with assorted lines. I am absolutely baffled that these programs sell for fairly big dollars, and they all seem to be just doodle pads for idea connecting.

I realize that there seems to be a market, but users haven't come close to convincing me that they actually do anything.

I don't get it - pingpop

Contrary to the previous posters comments we use this type of software as a crucial means to capture ideas in Brainstorming sessions, or any type of critical thinking exercise. There is no better way to capture real time thinking to include the relationships of the thought process. Invaluable, especially compared to others notes, ie Word or text files that no one reads anyway.

Mind Mapping - Martin Turner--2008

You need to read the book "Mind Mapping" by Tony Buzan. Mind Mapping is a well established, well researched technique for note taking, visual learning and assisting the creative process. There are fairly strict rules about how to do it.

Unfortunately, this particular programme does not really offer Mind Mapping in the sense that Buzan defines it – which is bizarre given the name. There are other programmes which do it much better, including Inspiration and NovaMind.
