Syncup is extremely simple and not very powerful. For the same price ($20) you can get Synk 5.2, which is really a whole class better, more powerful, more customizable, can do scheduled backups, and has a much larger preference set allowing you to really customize. That's not to say that Synk is complicated -- on the contrary, it's very easy to use even for a backup novice. Plus, the Synk author offers a student license for a minimum of $1, and he's the most responsive developer ever. And no, I am not the Synk developer. I'm just a very satisfied student license holder.

Synk is 10.4 only - MatrixPT
Also, not everybody uses 10.4. Every time I use OS 10.4, I feel like throwing the computer out the window. I hate it. So I'm not going to use a 10.4 only utility.Wednesday, March 07 2007 @ 10:31 PM PST

To original commenter. Unless you're blind, this program is about 40% cheaper than the one you suggest. So...unless the term "same" was redefined, you...lie.Wednesday, August 08 2007 @ 09:06 AM PDT

Redundant comment. Syncup integrates perfectly with Automator and iCal and even comes equipped with an app for Automator and aside from a couple hiccups in its early days, it has worked perfectly for me for at least the past year.Thursday, August 09 2007 @ 02:54 AM PDT

Do a speed trial with the two apps and you'll see the advantage of syncupx. For the trial try a backup of at leat 500mb and run it twice to see how much faster syncup checks the files that have changed.
It comes to something like 20% of the time Synk takes.
Now imagine doing that with a backup of 50gb+ and you'll really apreciate the difference
