If you want a pretty program then this is for you. But their support sucks. I cant totally diss Captain FTP, because I was a big fan, and it is one of the better FTP programs for the mac. But when it stoped working for me, I could get no help. I posted on the forums, I've sent email requests and not 1 reply in two weeks. I was frustrated with everybody and about to switch ISP's when I just decided to try antother FTP program. I downloaded Yummy FTP. It worked well, the first time I used it. The problem I had with captian FTP was constant time outs and slow transfer speeds. I basically couldnt upload anything to my site. My productivity stopped. If you have timeout problems like me, then dont wast your money. Get Yummy FTP, it works.

It's completely impossible that you did not get a response. It is more likely that your email server blocks emails from our domains xdsnet.de or xdsnet.pl

fwiw, my experience with support from the developer was both prompt and helpful (solved my problem, first try) the one time i needed it.

In all fairness, Yes I did try to contact support. I used the built in function located in the Captain FTP Help Menu. The help menu item that states "Ask for support (by email)" was used by me at least twice if not more. I also included my tracerts in the message body to assist in determining the problem.

I didnt bother with the forum, because I was still waiting on a response from my first question (which I posted on 2006-01-11 10:22 by Darrin Jackson; This question is still unanswered as of 3-9-06. Goto your forum and see for yourself. I asked about a menu item in captain ftp that I couldnt find in the manual. I wanted to know how could I use it, and what limitations did it have. Even if you thought the question to be silly or over my head, then you should have replied any way and told me to where to look to find the answer.

Im not trying to bash Captain FTP, because it worked well when It worked, but I'm just trying to leave pure honest feedback to help others who might have the same problems I had. I do read the feedback before I try a program, and I appreciate honest feedback from people not associated with the developer, like me, the user.
