Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: YES

To the people who are complaining about iWeb producing images for text blocks. You should make it clear to other readers that this does not happen with all text blocks. This is due to corrupt fonts. See this hint at macosxhints.

A few seconds of search would have allowed you to make a correct statement of the problem, instead of slamming the entire product. iWeb is a great application and really brings the promise of easy web publishing to everyone.

iWeb and text images - arroyodos

Thanks for the tip on disabliing the 2.90 Ariel fonts. I've done this.

Obviously you are skilled at Mac us and there are others like you. On the other hand there are sincere individuals making real efforts to utilize program, e.g. iWeb who are having problems. These problems may NOT be caused by their carelessness in keeping their systems up to date or because they have a lot of junk: add-ons, or suspect freeware, even bad shareware on their computer.

I have used Macs now for about seven years at least, and one reason people who use Macs, do use them is because they are supposed to be more "user friendly" --and I think they are.

However----if this problem of publishing text blocks as PNG image files can really be eliminiated by disabliing certain Ariel fonts there are two comments to be made:
1. Why did not Mac sent out something about this or why isn't there something about this on Apple iWeb forums?

2. I will send a letter to Mac Addict setting them straight or at least pointing out that they should have known about this Ariel font problem.

----Oh--one more thing: I assume then that this problem with bloated text/image files is ONLY happening to users of Ariel fonts. That's really something, isn't it.

Try to be patient with the less gifted, and even more tolerant of the whiners.

iWeb and text images - xhamlet

Okay, so just as long as I use the fonts that iWeb deems safe and appropriate, I should have no further problems. Let me just disable those fonts that seem to be trouble. Excellent! Now this program should be impressive. But wait! Why is it still rendering certain blocks of text as images? And why is it randomly reformatting others when I publish the site? It's not a bad program, but it has bugs that keep it from being useful, and until those bugs are properly taken care of--and by properly I do not mean circumvented by the end user--iWeb will continue to be a laughable piece of software.
