Upgrading to Path Finder 4 has made me happier than any improvement I've made to my Mac since I upgraded from Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X version 10.2. (But it only took me two hours to realize this, instead of 2 months.)
Most importantly, the several bugs which I reported over the last 18 months on Path Finder 3 were apparently logged and the ones that I can remember reporting HAVE BEEN FIXED. Cocoatech is RESPONSIBLE. Performance problems that arose with Tiger are fixed. The Path-Finder-private "shelf" is gone and now it's all synchronized with Finder's Favorites. Wonderful. The new features, which I had not even though of, in particular the customizable drawers, are fabulous. I've got Favorites, Volumes, Folder History, Info and Preview all showing. In my list view I see Name, Date Modified, Size, Owner, Group and Permissions. And of course, that wonderful old PATH bar, with a new look! If I had to choose between Cocoatech's upgrade from Path Finder 3 to Path Finder 4, and Apple's upgrade from Mac OS X 10.3 to 10.4, I'd take Path Finder 4. Path Finder 4 is better than Tiger.
