I can't understand why Firefox is the only Mozilla browser that has broken home, end pg up and pg down arrows. They don't do anything. Even the up and down arrows don't work like the other browsers. Come on, is this too difficult to fix? I had hoped this latest version would fix it; but no such luck.

There may be something wrong with your setup, because on my PowerBook the page up and page down and arrow keys work perfectly and just as they do in Safari (running FireFox 1.5.0.1)

something is seriously screwed on your configuration.

absolutely no problems here with home page icon or page up / page down

as for why anyone would call this the WORST browser for the Mac? that title belongs, imho, to the now defunct IE which languished for 3 years untouched before being killed

Firefox isn't the "worst browser on the Mac." I'm not sure about FF 1.5.x, since I'm sticking with 1.0.7 until more of the 1.5.x bugs get worked out. But 1.0.7 is far more stable on my Macs than any 2.x version of Safari. All of Safari's pretty window dressing doesn't help when it crashes for the fifth time in a day or when it takes forever to load pages. Yes, I've reinstalled Safari multiple times and done all the usual Safari fixes like trashing prefs. It only helps for at most a few weeks before the flakiness is back. Meanwhile Firefox just keeps running, fast and sleek.

You should try trashing more then the Safari Prefs because Safari has been rock solid for me for years. Looking in my crash logs, I have not had a Safari crash since at least I installed Tiger in April of 2005. So for nearly a year of day to day use not a single crash. Of course Safari is not perfect but I find it more Stable then Firefox. So it sounds like you better check your configuration as something else is likely causing your instability. As a web developer I really like all the Browsers we have access to on the Mac, especially browsers like OmniWeb and Camino.

If you had read my post more carefully you would have noted that Camino, Safari, Mozilla and yes, even IE have no problems with the up,down arrows etc. Just Firefox. I am running under Tiger 10.4.4.

In other words: I only have a problem with Firefox, the others work as they should!

Speaking of keys, is it FF or my system that doesn't allow me to use Command-C to copy a URL directly after typing it in the window on FF. I have to go under the edit window and then click on Copy. A real pain . . . any suggestions for a fix??

Thanks.

I had all the same problems you did, until I trashed everything to do with Firefox and started over. I wish I knew what actually caused the problem, so I could tell you just what to trash. Firefox works just fine for me now. If you figure it out, let us know.

Thanks, I'll try it and see what happens. It seems that you, at least, read my whole post. Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know what happens.
