Now Up-to-Date has had one hugh flaw in in since the OS X version has come out.
You cannot rely on the alarms. I have a recurring daily alarm which I use to remind me to take medication. It alarmed properly for five days and then just quit. It still shows on the calendar as a "to do" but will not provide an alarm. I have tried the save as and made sure that the primary (my only Now file) still is checked, it is. But no luck on the daily alarm.
In the past I have just started over with a new alarm and it too works for a few days.
And to think I wasted my money again on this new version! Never again!
I have tried various "fixes" is recommended by the developer, they too work for a few days and then fail.
I would recommend that you flush this app until the developer can figure out how to make it work properly.
I am running Tiger, the latest release.

What a waste of Money! - Rick Deckard
I seem to recall this problem with the older 3.x versions, but with 4.3 running under OS 9 (not Classic, never tried that) the alarms always worked. One would think that reliable alarms would be something a company publishing a calendar program would be sure to get right. I guess some things never change.
Thanks for the heads up! I won't be upgrading to the OS X version of NUTD until they fix this issue and the ratings here at Versiontracker begin to improve.

I won't go so far as to say that NUDC is a waste of money, however ever since upgrading to Version 5.0 I have encountered nothing but continual non-stop non-function of the alarm system through and including the latest update of today of 5.1.2. I have been using NUDC for many many years and have been what I feel a most loyal customer and have come to rely on the alarm system very heavily but can no longer make that statement in any respect. The alarms will work as set as long as you never shut the computer off or do a restart. Once you shut down the machine or do a restart ALL set alarms become useless and non-existant as far as NUDC is concerned.I have been in contact with their tech support and have tried every single suggestion they have offered and NOTHING will get the alarms working as they have in the past and SHOULD be now. Something is very wrong with this software and there truly should be no reason for having to endure with a product like this. I have had to revert back to using ICal and that at least will respond to my alarms every single time no matter if the machine is just being turned on for the first time, restarted or left running - ALL of the ICal alarms will work. It would please me to no end, and doubtless many others, if the NUDC people could get this alarm issue fixed and do it like NOW.

I've been wondering if any of my menu bar add-ons might be causing this alarm malfunction... I use Youpi Key, wClock, AppleScript menu, and the Apple Keyboard menu.Anyone try to dump all their menu bar additions to see if that helps?

Same exact thing for me. 5.1.1 seemed a bit better. I'm still going to wait for a "fix."I'm feeling a bit abused though, too.
