Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

Here's a prime example of programming gone wild. Why anyone would want to clutter up their system & possibly screw it up with something like this is beyond understanding.

Why? - MacInTalk Pro

I'll tell you why. Because I need the volume level of audio output to be high to help the sound from my external speakers but I DON'T want the startup chime coming out of the speaker inside my Mac to wake the neighbors.

Since Apple provides NO way to control the startup sound separately from the main volume level, I rely on this preference pane to do the trick.

It does what it claims to do without ever causing a problem on my system and fills a clear need of mine on top of being free.

What more could you want?

Yes, there is a need & thanx!!! - NativeofSF

Thank you MacinTalk Pro for your righteous response.

For too long I've had to endure tastelessly banal & insipid remarks, masking the obvious put–down, about an intelligent piece of software. Your remarks demonstrate the need for unique software to help the individual—truly creative problem–solving!

Thank you
